Born 1922 Taneautua, New Zealand.

Don Peebles trained at Wellington Technical College of Art from 1947-50. In 1951-53 he lived in Sydney, studying under John Passmore at the Julian Ashton School of Arts. Assisted by a grant he travelled to London in 1960, where he met and was influenced by British artist Victor Passmore.

He returned to New Zealand in 1964 and took up a Lectureship at Canterbury School of Arts, and held this position until 1982. In 1986 he retired from the University and spent the remainder of his life pursuing his painting career. He died in March 2010, after a long and distinguished art career. His work is represented in all major public and private collections in New Zealand.
