Fane is a Hawke's Bay based multi-media artist. After three years studying graphic design, he turned left and dedicated thirteen years of his life to the music industry. After writing and playing for Bruno Lawrence's NZ Theatrical Rock Circus - BLERTA, he began his long partnership with Peter Dasent and Tony Backhouse forming SPATS, THE CROCODILES, I AM JOE'S MUSIC and now BEND.
He has spent the last fifteen years making music videos, films, and television commercials, while song writing and painting madly on his days off. With dynamic Producer Jane Watson Byrne, he co-owns publishing boutique 'MONKEY BIZ', fledgling film company 'SHAG-PILE PICTURES', and design-workshop 'NO STRAIGHT LINES'. As well as numerous awards for illustration, and TVC's, he has won 'Best First Film' at Clermont Ferrand Film Festival (Rodney & Juliet), 'Best Humour' '93 London International Advertising Awards (Waikato Beer), 'Best TV Graphics' '89 NZ LIFTA Awards (Radio with Pictures), 'Best TV Graphics' '98 NZ FILM & TV Awards (Telecom Buzz Buzby), 'Song of the Year' - RIANZ Music Awards (Tears), and 'NZ Music Video Of The Year' five times.
