Born in Britain, Riduan Tomkins graduated with a Diploma of Design from Wimbledon School of Art in 1965, completing his formal training at the Royal College of Art, London in 1968.
After training he held a wide range of teaching positions in England, Canada and the United States, before taking up the position of senior lecturer in painting at Ilam, Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1985. Riduan held this position until 1996. In 2001 he moved to Indonesia, where he lived until his death in 2009.
He's had exhibits in Canada, England and New Zealand. Represented in public and private collections in North America, Europe, South East Asia and New Zealand.
