This rug series starts as a homage to those pattern makers of the pacific. The hand knot medium is ideal for capturing the most detailed pattern. In Pacific Story I and II various selected patterns share a common scale and are collectively organised to become elements of the final lineal composition .Initially inspired by the beautiful 1974 publication by J H Menzies titled Maori Patterns Painted and Carved. Dilana’s ambition is to grow this Pacific Stories series in collaboration with artists and contemporary pattern makers practising in and around Pacifica.
